Architecture with a long view.

Trykel is an international architecture and interiors practice. For more than twenty years, our team of over fifty architects, designers and specialists has delivered work across Europe and the United States.

The practice

We work at every scale, from private homes to large commercial buildings, and hold each project to the same standard: a close reading of the site, an organizing idea that is easy to grasp, and materials chosen for how they will age.

Design, technical delivery and interiors sit within one team. The people who shape a concept carry it through documentation and construction, so the finished building matches what was drawn.

Our clients are private owners, developers and operators who expect a building to perform for decades. Much of our work is private, and we treat it with discretion.

What we design

Residential
Private houses, villas and apartment buildings, planned around how people actually live.
Workplace and commercial
Offices and mixed-use buildings designed to work hard and age well.
Hospitality
Hotels, restaurants and leisure spaces, where atmosphere is part of the brief.
Interiors
Interior architecture conceived with the building, not applied after it.

Europe and the United States

Different climates, codes and building cultures.
One standard of work.

Europe

Our European work ranges from new buildings to careful interventions in established cities, shaped by demanding planning frameworks and long traditions of craft.

United States

In the United States we bring the same discipline to larger sites and faster schedules, working closely with local engineers, consultants and builders.

How a project runs

  1. Site and brief

We begin on site and with your requirements, establishing what the building must do and what the place will allow.

  2. Concept

An organizing idea, tested in drawings and models until plan, form and budget agree.

  3. Detail and documentation

Every material and junction is resolved on paper, so decisions are made at the drawing board rather than on site.

  4. Construction and handover

We stay involved through construction to handover, so what is built is what was designed.
